Internet Service Providers have reacted angrily on learning that the limited government funding to compensate them for the costs of implementing the Data Retention Act will be spit over three years. Internet Australia, the peak body representing Internet users, said today it had only realised this when it was revealed during last week’s Senate Estimates hearings.

Internet Australia CEO, Laurie Patton, commented: “Our ISP members will have to pay upfront for their equipment and salaries, so why should they have to wait to get all their funding from the Government?”
